Birthdays are a mark where the changes made in life are highlighted. Sometimes those changes are embraced with hope for the future, and sometimes the changes are reminders of mistakes made in the past. The Birthday Dinner by Brian Egland is a story of a family reuniting after time apart. The family comes together to celebrate changes made in age, but they come to realize that the changes made in their lives and relationships have resurfaced unresolved issues.
The Birthday Dinner was performed October 29, 30, & 31, 2009 in Fletcher Hall on the campus of The University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
The script was honored by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region VI for Excellence in Original Playwrighting.
Brian received an Independence Award from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Performing Arts Department for his work on the show.
Kristina Marshall received a Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of Judith Channing.
